Tomorrow is National PTSD Day……

This is the first I’ve heard of it, but I think I like it. (See the link below).  There definitely needs to be more awareness of PTSD in first responders. Already awareness is high for our military veterans, but I’m not sure awareness translates to action in this case – there are too many stories out there of veterans not getting the help they need.

Let’s all make a point to mention PTSD to at least one person each day over the weekend. Maybe a simple comment like “Did you know that first responders are affected by PTSD, in much the same way as combat veterans?”  Or, “First responder PTSD is a real concern that needs to be addressed.”

In whatever context you are comfortable, let’s speak up and speak out.
