Family members of victims to suffer PTSD?

I found this article very interesting.

This is something  I never considered. It does make sense though. Wondering about your child or good friend, knowing that they may well be in the middle of the mayhem, has got to be excruciating.

I wonder if that can play out for the families of first responders too. Could knowing that we are putting ourselves into extreme situations affect our spouses in the same way it can affect us? Does our sharing of stories get into their mind too?
